Feline Alert!
This is probably a case of preaching to the converted but the situation concerning the feline population in the United Kingdom is reaching out of control proportions.
I am constantly being asked to take into care adult cats from homes where, for one reason or another, they are no longer wanted. WHY?
All sorts of reasons are given; but the basic reason is that the owners did not give any thought to “why they wanted a cat”. Nor did they bother to find out about cats before obtaining one. There is no excuse for the blatant attitude that “it is only an animal, a cuddly toy or a possession.
But, should we be surprised? People have children without any thought for the future. Why, then, should we be surprised at their negligent attitude towards cats, or any other animal?
Advice is freely available; rescue centres, such as mine. Veterinary practices, The Feline Advisory Beaurau and many more sources are happy to give advice.
Before much longer the U.K. will have to consider a mass euthanasia program to sort this problem out unless the, so-called superior species - humans, starts to use it's intelligence and tries to learn something about the animals they want as pets before actually obtaining them.
Until such “responsible” organisations, such as the R.S.P.S.A. The Cat's Protection and other large rescue groups try to teach the public, the situation will not improve.
It is time for you all to contact your member of parliament and newspapers and demand more regulation on the ownership of animals. WAKE UP NOW OR IT WILL BE TOO LATE!
