Abbie
Abbie is a small, black female cat who was born about 1999 to 2000. She turned up on a used car lot in July 2004 looking in very poor condition. First appearances gave the impression that she was about 10 months old and feral; we could not approach her. Her fur had bald patches and was very brown, a sure sign of under-nourishment. So, it was necessary to use the cat trap.
We
quickly caught her and soon realised that she was not feral but was a very
affectionate cat.
An
examination by our vet disclosed a mild case of Cerabela Hyperplagia; a mild
form of brain damage caused, possibly, by her mother being a carrier of the
Gastro-entritis virus. We also realised that she was about 4 to 5 years old at
the time of her capture. Her condition means that she does everything “over the
top”. Whatever any other cat would do, she will do more-so.
Her
skin was covered with patches of crust. This means that she has a very
sensitive skin. She soon started to come back into good condition and continues
to improve.
She
cannot get enough attention and her favourite position is to be carried around
and cuddled.
It
is possible that her previous owners thought that she had mange and decided to
dump her. She had had a home at some time as she had been spayed. She is the
most affectionate and inoffensive cat that we have ever had in care.
